WCU’s Wells School of Music to Present Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony on Sept. 27
American Hymnsong Celebrates the Music of America 
West Chester, PA — The Wells School of Music at West Chester University will present the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony in concert together on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 3 p.m. in Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, Philips Memorial Building, 700 S. High St., West Chester. The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will also be livestreamed at vimeo.com/wsom.
Conducted by Andrew Yozviak and Hannah Morrison, the Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony open an exciting season of wind band concerts at the Wells School of Music with American Hymnsong, a mix of classic and contemporary works celebrating the music of America.
Brooke Pierson’s The Beginning of All Things announces the Wind Symphony’s performance, followed by Dwayne Milburn’s American Hymnsong Suite. The progress and ingenuity of nineteenth century America is recognized in Erika Swanoe’s Steampunk Suite.
The Wind Ensemble opens its performance with the recently composed River of Stars by Reena Esmail. Kevin Day’s tender Love, Come to Me and David Maslanka’s hymn song, inspired by Symphony No. 7, complete the program.
