Fun for the Whole Family!: Dept. of Theatre & Dance Presents Sideways Stories from Wayside School October 16 – 19
West Chester University’s Department of Theatre & Dance invites audiences of all ages to experience the zany, magical, and heartwarming world of Louis Sachar’s Sideways Stories from Wayside School, October 16–19, 2025. Adapted for the stage by John Olive and directed by Associate Director of Theatre John Bellomo, the production brings the beloved children’s classic to life in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre, Swope Music Building & Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester.
Performance times are Thursday, October 16 – Saturday, October 18, at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on October 19, at 2:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $10–$20, with discounts available for students and seniors with valid ID. Tickets are available at www.wcupatix.com/theatreanddance. An ASL interpreted performance will be offered on Saturday, October 17.

Welcome to the 30th floor classroom of Wayside School—a building that was accidentally
constructed sideways, where the 19th story may or may not exist, and the notorious
Mrs. Gorf can turn students into apples. From mashed potatoes and mysterious ghosts
to hilarious life lessons, Sideways Stories from Wayside School celebrates imagination, curiosity, and friendship. This family-friendly production
promises laughter, surprises, and fun for theatre-goers of all ages.
The cast of Sideways Stories from Wayside School includes Lucas Abraham (Louis), Nyla Burston (Bebe), Livy Carter (Rondi), Mason D’Albora (Mr. Pickle), Jonah Gibson (Mr. Gorf), Lauren Keurshner (Mrs. Gorf), Brenna Lill (Miss Valooosh), Raz Remaley (Myron), Mali Taylor (Mrs. Jewls), DJ Truxler (Dameon), Maddie Whittman (Leslie).
The Department of Theatre and Dance at West Chester University, an accredited institution of the National Association of Schools of Theatre, prepares students for the professional and the academic worlds of Theatre and Dance, while raising student awareness of civility, diversity, creativity, problem solving and social responsibility. The department offers a BA Theatre degree program with elective concentrations in Musical Theatre, Performance, and Design and Production, in addition to a dance minor and theatre minor.
