Registration Now Open for PA Theatre Institute's Summer Camps at WCU
The Pennsylvania Theatre Institute summer camp at West Chester University (WCU) returns for its 8th summer on WCU's campus with multiple sessions for students aged 8–14, and a separate session for high school-aged students. Camps will take place in WCU’s state-of-the-art facilities in the E.O. Bull Center for the Arts, 2 E. Rosedale Avenue, West Chester.
Taught by professionals in the industry, the “Young Company” camp is for students ages 8-14. Students engage in a variety of classes such as acting, voice, dance, improvisation, and theatrical design in the mornings. They’ll sharpen these skills in the afternoon as they prepare for a final production on the last day of camp to share what they have learned with family and friends.
Two sessions of Young Company camp are available: Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 18; and Monday, July 21 – Friday, August 1, 2025. This camp can be enjoyed by students at any level of experience.
The Pre-College Intensive invites High School students ages 15-18 who are interested in the future study in theatre arts. Taught by professionals and WCU faculty, students will receive college-level instruction in acting, voice, dance, movement and improvisation. They also attend a field trip to see professional work around the region, have professional headshots taken, and share performances. The goal of this program is to help students acquire the tools they need for auditions, gain an understanding of the college audition process, and learn vocabulary related to performance technique. Students will perform in a showcase at the end of the 10-day program for family, friends, and an invited audience of professors and professionals. This on-campus experience invites students to live in the dorms and provides them with a meal plan.
The Pre-College Intensive takes place Thursday, June 19 – Saturday, June 28, 2025.
