WCU’s Dept. of Art + Design Presents Bobby Hansson: Renaissance Man Through December 9thBobby Hansson

West Chester University’s Department of Art + Design presents Bobby Hansson: Renaissance Man, a retrospective gallery exhibition, opening on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Knauer Gallery in Swope Music Building, 817 S. High Street, West Chester. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. through December 9th. An Opening Reception event will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 4 - 7 p.m. 

Bobby Hansson, a true Renaissance artist, excelled in various artistic disciplines, including photography, filmmaking, blacksmithing, and writing. As the principal photographer for prestigious institutions like the American Craft Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, his work graced countless publications and catalogs.   

Hansson’s legacy extends to his contributions to film and his innovative work with tin cans, culminating in the book, “The Fine Art of the Tin Can,” now in its third printing. His teaching and workshops at renowned institutions worldwide left a lasting impact on students and artists. 

Bobby HanssonHansson’s various disciplines will be showcased throughout the exhibit along with a performance utilizing his own instruments. The Bobby Hansson Retrospective is a tribute to this multifaceted artist’s enduring influence on the world of art.
