Art + Design Dept. Invites Students to Enjoy Nourishing Spaces 2.0 Through Oct. 13.

Join the Department of Art + Design for Nourishing Spaces 2.0. Created by Professor Erica Loustau in collaboration with Delaware Urban GreensNourishing and West Chester U. students Emma Britt, Eden Brown, Laura Gaenzle, Anna Jakubowski, Owen Loustau, Mia Markford, Mya Saltysiak, Caroline Sawyer, Sahara Widmayer, Zifeng Zang, and Hannah Zartman.

Nourishing Spaces premiered last season at the Delaware Contemporary and was exhibited from January 13 – May 28, 2023. The work is now on exhibit through October 13, 2023, in the Knauer Gallery, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester.

How can a space be nourishing? West Chester University students were prompted to investigate the idea of nourishment with questions such as: What fuels a healthy body, mind, and spirit? How and where do we find this for ourselves? Can we offer this to others?

The students worked together to construct three geodesic, dome-like structures. Each dome was designed and decorated as answers to these overarching questions. In conjunction with the geodome designs, the students worked with Delaware Urban Greens to provide plant materials.

Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 7, at 4:30 p.m.  There will be a live, small plants give-away for the first 100 attendees to the event so that attendees can nourish and be nourished in their own spaces.
