WCU Celebrates the Pennsylvania National Guard
On Wednesday, April 26, an event to honor and appreciate the National Guard will occur on the Academic Quad from 12 to 3 p.m. The campus community is invited to enjoy a multitude of games including baseball toss, basketball toss, football toss, corn hole, and a rock wall. There will also be a raffle for gift cards, free food, and recognition to National Guard soldiers who attend the University.
“I have been a part of the National Guard for close to 20 years,” states WCU’s National Guard contact on campus Sgt. Jared Leimeister. “The bonds and friendships I have made over time have been a staple in my life. The Guard has given me so much and I truly love it.” Sgt. Leimeister assists with the University’s ROTC and is an assistant professor of military science. His main role is to help students learn about and join the PA National Guard.
The event will focus on showing appreciation for the services the National Guard provides and will give students and other attendees the opportunity to learn more about what they do and what they have to offer.
