West Chester University’s Department of Art + Design opens two new exhibits to kick-off Spring cultural programs and public events on West Chester University’s campus. Both exhibits are FREE and galleries are open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. NETWORK CONNECTION is on display February 7 – February 25, 2022, in Knauer Gallery, Swope Music Building and Performing Arts Center, 817 S. High Street, West Chester. An opening reception will be held in on Thursday, February 10, from 4 – 7 p.m. WE THE WOMEN is on view February 7 – February 24, 2022, in the John H. Baker Gallery, E.O. Bull Center for the Arts, 2 E. Rosedale Avenue, West Chester.

NETWORK CONNECTION showcases the work of Erica Loustau, Associate Professor in West Chester University’s Department of Art + Design. Loustau’s Network Connection expands the imagery of one of her recent sculptures to a room-sized installation.

Network ConnectionLoustau says, “The large-scale environmental work explores natural systems of movement and their geometric underpinnings. Mixed-media elements float through the space of the Knauer Gallery to become both a foil to their architectonic environment and to challenge the viewer’s perception of the space. Clusters of individual elements become a metaphor for how we might find fluidity and synchronicity through collaboration, cooperation, and common purpose.”

WE THE WOMEN features thirty-nine original poster designs exploring the subject of women's rights. We the People The show’s creators are part of a visual initiative made up of female, female-identifying, and non-binary designers who use their talents to bring awareness to women’s rights in the United States.

Designers and organizers Michele Cooper and Kelly Holohan invited artists to contribute their talents in the form of poster designs. Each designer’s unique perspective is represented in the collection and is a response to attacks on women’s rights. Visit the project website at WetheWomenDesign.com to view the collection and to purchase prints of the work.

All faculty, staff, students, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth when indoors.
