Growing%20up%20in%20the%20extreme%20segregation%20of%20the%20suburbs%20of%20Detroit%20led%20Dr.%20Paul%20Sylvester%20to%20his%20work%20in%20urban%20schools.%20He%20began%20his%20work%20at%20youth%20programs%20in%20Detroit%20and%20Spanish%20Harlem,%20and%20taught%20elementary%20school%20in%20Boston%20and%20Philadelphia.%20Since%20then%20he%20worked%20as%20the%20Dean%20of%20Faculty%20at%20an%20environmentally%20focused%20charter%20school%20in%20Philadelphia,%20coordinated%20the%20master%E2%80%99s%20elementary%20program%20at%20the%20University%20of%20Pennsylvania,%20and%20lived%20in%20Costa%20Rica%20working%20as%20a%20consultant%20to%20a%20rainforest%20preserve%20developing%20its%20educational%20programs.%20Sylvester%20earned%20his%20Ph.D.%20at%20the%20University%20of%20Pennsylvania%20and%20his%20research%20and%20teaching%20interests%20include%20curriculum%20development,%20classroom%20management,%20and%20teaching%20for%20social%20change%20and%20sustainability.
