Dr. Kelly Fisher
Associate Professor
College of Business and Public Management - Management
Bio
Dr. Kelly Fisher currently teaches Graduate and Undergraduate leadership related courses in the College of Business and Public Management at West Chester University. Fisher's dissertation was a case study of leadership in a foreign, dangerous setting that was based on the experiences of Australian military advisers during the Vietnam War. At present, Fisher conducts research at the intersection of leadership, culture, and context with growing traction around non-traditional expatriates. Fisher is also interested in the role of gender and its influence on leadership processes. Much of Fisher's research is international and draws on a qualitative case study approach with extended data gathering in the field. Surveys and mixed methods are also employed. Academe is Fisher's second career. Fisher's first career was in the armed forces. Fisher's last position in the USN was as production manager for jet aircraft at NAS Cecil Field. After retiring and before pursuing a doctorate, Fisher taught economics and management courses, free-lanced as a correspondent and editor, owned a small business, then taught ESL in South Korea for over a year.
