Adebayo Oluwayomi

Associate Professor

Dr. Adebayo Oluwayomi is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. His research and teaching interests contribute to the areas of Africana Philosophy, Applied Philosophy of AI, Black Male Studies, and Philosophy of Race.

Prior to joining West Chester University, Dr. Oluwayomi taught at Howard University, Southern Arkansas University, Whittier College, in addition to serving as the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Emerging Voices Postdoctoral Fellow at the Leslie Center for the Humanities, Dartmouth College. His published works appear in journals such as American Philosophical Quarterly, The Journal of Black Studies, Law and Method, The Journal of Men’s Studies, Africology: Journal of Pan African Studies, and the Journal of Black Sexuality and Relationship.

Research Statement

My research within philosophy addresses fundamental questions about human existence, particularly concerning injustice, inequality, unfairness, and oppression in our world. My scholarship spans Africana Philosophy, Black Male Studies, Applied Philosophy of AI, and Philosophy of Race, with a primary focus on analyzing social and structural issues related to dehumanization. I am dedicated to developing counter-discourses and strategies to confront these challenges. This work is guided by my strong conviction that scholarly inquiry should aim to foster a positive vision of humanity and explore the diverse spectrum of human experience through an interdisciplinary approach.
