Alane Presswood, Ph.D.

Alane (Lanie) Presswood is the Director of Forensics and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Media. She received her B.A. in Communication Studies from West Chester University in 2013 and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Ohio University in 2017. Lanie has a long history in competitive speech and debate, including various state and regional competitive victories, a national championship title in Impromptu Speaking, and four previous years of coaching at the collegiate level.

Outside of public speaking, her research primarily concerns women’s voices in the digital sphere, including how they build personal brands, engage with varied audiences, and provide social support. Her monograph, Food Blogs, Postfeminism, and the Communication of Expertise: Digital Domestics, is due out from Lexington Books in December 2019.
