E2Campus Alert
West Chester University's free emergency notification system, WCU ALERT, sends text messages to cell phones(SMS), wireless PDAs, pagers, and e-mail addresses. This is done through a separate provider: e2Campus.

Through the WCU ALERT system, you will receive notifications regarding:

  • on-campus emergencies
  • class cancellations
  • delayed openings
  • university closings, etc.

How do I sign-up for WCU ALERT?

  1. Go to the WCU ALERT homepage: wcupa.edu/wcualert/
  2. Click on the "New Users" button.

  3. Fill in all of the appropriate fields and change your password to be specific to your WCU ALERT account. 
  4. Click “create an account”. Within a few minutes (usually seconds) a text message will be sent to your cell phone and will contain a validation code.

Does signing up for WCU ALERT/e2campus cost me anything?

No, there is no cost to sign up for WCU ALERT/e2campus. However, your phone carrier may charge for receiving text messages.

How do I delete/unsubscribe from WCU ALERT, if I no longer wish to receive messages?

  1. Go to the WCU ALERT homepage: wcupa.edu/wcualert/
  2. Sign in to your WCU ALERT account.
    Username= your wcu email address including "@wcupa.edu".
    Password= unique to WCU ALERT. If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Forgot your Password?" link. An email or text message will be sent to you with a temporary password. If you do not receive a message with your password, contact WCUAlertSupport@wcupa.edu
  3. On the top orange navigation bar click on “Groups”
  4. Click on "Unsubscribe" for both Priority 1 Emergency Alerts and Weather Related Notifications.

  6. A message should appear: "Subscription removed successfully". Unsubscribing from WCU ALERT is not recommended unless you have separated from West Chester University.

How do I change my phone number on my WCU ALERT account?

  1. Go to the WCU ALERT homepage: wcupa.edu/wcualert/
  2. Sign in to your WCU ALERT account.
    Username= your wcu email address including "@wcupa.edu".
    Password= unique to WCU ALERT. If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Forgot your Password?" link. An email or text message will be sent to you with a temporary password. If you do not receive a message with your password, contact WCUAlertSupport@wcupa.edu
  3. On the top orange navigation bar click on “Services”
  4. Click on “Change Status”.

  6. Correct your cell phone number and/or carrier (cell phone service provider). Click “Update Phone”. You may also change your email address here.
  7. A text message will be sent to your cell phone from “e2campus” and will contain a validation code.

  11. Your new phone number and/or email address should be added to your account and your status should read as "Active".

I forget my password and I don't receive a message when I click "Forgot your Password"?

  1. Email WCUAlertSupport@wcupa.edu and ask to reset password.
  2. Include your first and last name in the email along with your WCU email address.
  3. *DON’T FORGET to change your password back to something you will remember:

  5. Type in your password and email address to sign-in. 
  6. On the orange navigation bar click “Account”. 
  7. Type in a new password and click “Update”.

Can parents/guardians subscribe to WCU Alert/e2campus?

Parents cannot subscribe directly to WCU ALERT, however, each student is able to add additional email addresses and cell phone numbers to their account. The WCU student must follow these directions:

  1. Go to the WCU ALERT homepage: wcupa.edu/wcualert/
  2. Sign in to your WCU ALERT account.
    Username= your wcu email address including "@wcupa.edu".
    Password= unique to WCU ALERT. If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Forgot your Password?" link. An email or text message will be sent to you with a temporary password. If you do not receive a message with your password, contact WCUAlertSupport@wcupa.edu
  3. From the orange navigational bar at the top, click "Services". Here you will see blank fields to add additional contacts to your WCU ALERT account. Type in your parent's "Email address" and/or "SMS (Text Messaging)" in the blank fields and click "Add Email" and/or "Add SMS".

  5. You will have to validate the new accounts.

    FOR CELL PHONE: The next page will ask you for a validation code. Within a few minutes (usually seconds), a "validation code" text message will be sent to your recently added cell phone. Type in the validation code and click "Validate".
    FOR EMAIL: An email will be sent from "validate@email.omnilert.net". Have your parent check their email and reply to the email (do not edit the email or type anything).
  6. To refresh the page, click on "Services" from the orange navigational bar at the top. You should see the additional cell phone number and/or email address added.
 

Is WCU Alert/e2campus just for cell phones?

WCU ALERT/e2campus can send messages to any device that can receive text messages (SMS) through cellular service, such as cell phones, text pagers, BlackBerrys, and some wireless PDAs. In addition, you can also opt to have the messages sent to your e-mail address.

When will I receive a WCU ALERT/e2campus message?

The WCU Alert system will be activated when there is a critical need to transmit urgent information.

  • Emergencies and evacuations such as a gas leak, fire, hazardous material spill, etc, occurring on or near campus.
  • School delays and closings.
  • Severe weather.
  • Severe outbreak of widespread illness.
  • Priority 1 safety threats in which an armed or dangerous criminal is at large on campus.
  • Crime incidents that are a possible threat to campus safety.

How can I get more information once I receive a WCU ALERT/e2campus message?

Additional information will be available through: *WCU homepage, email, and the information & assistance phone line 610.436.1000.
*Due to the character limitations of text messaging, text messages will be brief. Always check the WCU homepage for more detailed information.

Will I get advertising messages from WCU ALERT/e2campus?

No. WCU ALERT/e2Campus will never deliver any type of advertising content and phone numbers will not be shared with any third parties.

Why is WCU Alert/e2campus necessary?

WCU ALERT provides the fastest and most effective way to communicate to students, faculty and staff - wherever you are.

What if I don't have a cell phone or my cell phone doesn't have text messaging?

Text messaging is just one of the communication channels used in the event of an emergency. Other communication methods: WCU homepage, email, and information and assistance phone line 610-436-1000
