The WCU Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology is a small, but dynamic teaching museum in which students co-curate insightful exhibits based on the Department of Anthropology and Sociology’s archaeological, ethnographic, primatological, historical, and artistic collections. Students help manage our collections, which range from the prehistoric to modern, and span the globe with a focus on the Americas, East Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

We are open Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 p.m. during the academic year.
We are happy to arrange guided tours by appointment.

Indigenous Andean Hat
The Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology recently received a grant from the Costume Society of America to aid in the preventative conservation of the unique collection of ethnographic hats in the Edmundo Morales Indigenous Andean Hat and Headdress Collection. Students are learning basic principles and techniques for working with these textiles, such as this hat from Cuzco, Peru, as they participate in ensuring their long-term preservation.
