The goal of this program is to promote academic success for students.

Student Alert referrals come from your professors through Navigate. This is their way of providing extra support for you outside of the classroom. If your professor feels as though you are at risk of falling behind in class, they will be able to, through a Navigate, refer you to this program.

Where do referrals go?

When students are referred, a Success Coach will send an email informing them about the alert for the designated course(s) and instruct them to make an appointment to meet. The Success Coaching program will record the outreach in Navigate. We will reach out to the student a second time if the student has not engaged with the Success Coaching office by meeting with a success coach within the two weeks after the first outreach. We will email the student a second time after two weeks and record the outreach in Navigate.

Academic difficulty in a college course can be contributed to various factors, and how you are handling your difficulty will either help or inhibit your success at West Chester University. Consider this program as your one-stop-shop for referral information.

How does the Student Alert in Navigate work?

The ability to issue a Student Alert using Navigate is available to faculty to identify students they believe would benefit from outreach from the success coaching office. If a professor feels as though a student is at risk of falling behind in class, they can use Navigate to refer a student to our office for support. This is their way of providing extra support for students outside of the classroom.

What if I receive a Student Alert?

When students are referred, a Success Coach will send an email informing them about the alert and instruct them to make an appointment to meet. The success coaching program will also record the outreach in Navigate.

Will this go on my permanent transcript?

Student Alert is designed to be a support for students to promote academic success. Student participation in success coaching is not part of any official record at West Chester University.
