Teaching: I direct four of our university’s eight choirs (Mastersingers, Cantari Donne, Vocal Jazz, Chamber Choir), teach choral conducting and voice to music education majors, and teach an occasional graduate/senior seminar on the oratorio.

Research: My research interests include the compositions and career influence of Carl Fasch (1736-1800), eighteenth- through nineteenth-century performance practice and works for developing voices, repertoire and program development, and faculty-student collaborative research. Aware and supportive of non-traditional models of scholarship for faculty in the creative arts, I am also a strong advocate for conventional publishing in conjunction with other forms of creative activities.

Service: My university service currently includes serving on the Faculty Mentoring Committee, the Graduate Council’s Culminating Projects Committee, the School of Music’s Recruiting Committee, and has included serving on the Research Advisory Council, the CAPC Low Enrollment Advisory Committee, and serving on numerous faculty evaluation and faculty/staff hiring committees. My student-related service includes serving on numerous graduate student advising committees and as the faculty advisor for the campus chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. My current professional service includes serving on the executive board of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.

Interests/Passions Outside of Academe: My family (my wife and three young daughters), theology and church ministry, composing music, intellectual movies, Star Trek, baseball (Chicago Cubs) and college football (Michigan State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame), coffee and margaritas.

Times when I can meet: My schedule changes each semester, but generally I’m available on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday mornings, and Friday mornings.
