Scholarship

Teaching: I teach a variety of English courses (both writing and literature) from a popular culture/cultural studies perspective. I love teaching and talking about different ways to engage and inspire students in all classes.

Research: I've published two co-edited collections (The Gender Reader 2nd ed. and War and Words) and am currently working on a third about Masculinities in Popular Culture. I have done quite a bit of editorial work for scholarly books and journals. I love editing and helping others (students and colleagues) to polish and improve their writing. My research interests include pop culture, gender studies, masculinities/men's studies, zombie and vampire literature and films, video games, TV and film analysis, and pedagogy. I also enjoy attending conferences and presenting my research.

Service: I've served on numerous committees at the department, college, and university level. I enjoy working with colleagues across campus and with students. I'm the Faculty Advisor for the League of Legends E-Sports Club. At the professional level, I serve on the Editorial Board of the Journal of American Culture and am the Area Chair of Men & Men's Studies for the National Popular Culture/American Culture Association Conference.

Interests/Passions Outside of Academe: Reading books; binge-watching Netflix; playing videogames; exercising; scuba diving; going to the beach; traveling to Florida to see my family; and hanging out with my husband, two sons (Jeff 20 and Jon 26), and dog (Buc).

Times when I can meet: I'm available to meet almost any day of the week, including evenings and weekends.
