Teaching: I teach astronomy courses at WCU, including general education courses, upper-level major courses, and graduate courses. This year I published an online textbook + printed activity book in support of my Galaxies and Cosmology course.
Research: My research is in the area of X-ray astrophysics. Specifically, I study X-ray, optical and infrared emission from young massive stars in the Milky Way and the Large Magellanic Cloud.
Service: I am the BSED coordinator for the Earth and Space Science and General Science certification programs. I am the department assistant chair, and I serve my community by refereeing papers and reviewing grant proposals.
Interests/Passions Outside of Academe: I live in an old house with my wife and four (soon to be five) kids. I do a lot of carpentry around the house, and we try to live sustainably. I like to volunteer with my church.
Times when I can meet: I’m on campus five days a week.
