EDN, located in Exton, Pennsylvania, is currently interviewing for an entry-level position to be filled in May-June 2014.  Position involves the operation of packer testing equipment in the field for the purpose of geologic formation evaluation.  Office responsibilities may include data analysis, interpretation, and report writing.  Position involves approximately 50-70% field work and travel throughout the northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.  Work activities will be performed on groundwater contamination sites in support of site investigations and remediation, as well as in various U.S. Shale Gas Plays in support of natural gas drilling and production activities.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in geology/hydrogeology, geophysics, environmental science or similar field from an accredited college or university and a strong interest in the Earth Sciences.  Candidates must also have superior verbal and written communication skills and proficiency with mechanical a
nd electrical systems.


Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, superior driving record, and be insurable.  Candidates will be required to participate in health and safety training, medical monitoring, and drug and alcohol testing.

Position Summary

A Surface Logger is one who works a 14/7 rotation (with flexibility) on drilling locations throughout the US.  These individuals gather technical, geological and observational data to ensure proper interpretation for production companies.  The successful applicant's duties will consist of the following:

  • Shift roation of 12 hours per day; 14 days on and 7 days off average
  • Set up and install sensors, computers and equipment
  • Monitor data from proprietary data acquisition systems
  • Collect and analyze cutting and fluid samples from the well
  • Communcate data with various key personnel
  • Prepare reports

Role Overview

AMEC E&I is currently seeking an Environmental Scientist in our Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, office.  Position will include, under the direction of a project manager or program manager, environmental field investigations, report writing and other project related tasks associated with environmental sampling, site investigation, remediation, and other physical or natural science based project work.


Key Responsibilities

Conduct field work at sites in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York under the technical direction of a senior scientist to conduct environmental baseline sampling of surface water and ground water, participate in investigation and remediation of impacts to soil and ground water, and collection of air/gas samples.  Conduct municipal, state, and federal file reviews to assist in the compilation of data and information for the investigation or remediation of projects.  Assist with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM 1527-05.  Assist environmental staff with report preparation to include reviewing and tabulating data, coordinating the drafting of plans and other visual, and report writing.   Position could potentially entail travel at least 30% to 50% of available hours.


Role Requirement/Experience

Recent graduate to two years environmental consulting experience.



BS/BA in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or one of the physical of natural sciences.



Knowledge of the principles and standard of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, experimentation, research, and documentation.  Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.  Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently


Preferred Qualities

The ideal candidate for this position is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a strong desire to learn.  Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical.  Previous field experience and OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certified are preferred.

Impact issues that matter this summer with the Fund for the Public Interest! 

The Fund for the Public Interest is a national non-profit organization that works to build support for progressive organizations across the country. We run campaigns for the Human Rights Campaign, USPIRG, and Environment America. This summer we will be in over 50 cities, working and lobbying to help win environmental and social justice campaigns. 

Last summer our staff helped stop toxic gas drilling, worked to end subsidies for junk food, and built support for equal rights for all Americans- all while building valuable leadership skills. Currently, we have paid positions open on our campaign staff in each of our locations. We require that interested candidates are hard workers and have excellent communication skills. 

As a member of our staff, you will fundraise, build membership for our partner groups, and educate and activate citizens on pressing issues. You will also have the opportunity to organize press conferences and build coalitions with other non-profit organizations. While on staff, you gain knowledge of pressing concerns our country is facing, learn how to effectively generate public support, and obtain a firm understanding of the political process.
