Presentations by African American student participants in the President’s Commission on Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Research Mentoring Initiative, mentored by Rita Smith-Wade-El, Ph.D., Psychology Professor, and African American Studies Director, and Associate Professor Lisa House, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist. One study examines the differences in attitudes of African Americans, European Americans, and Latinos, toward learning disabilities and the implications for utilization of services and retention. The second study investigates the relationship between political participation, efficacy, cynicism, and media trustworthiness among African American students. The third study analyzes differences in attitudes and experiences of African Americans, European Americans, and Latinos with police.
