According to the Wall Street Journal, '"American colleges and universities are enrolling unprecedented numbers of international students." In order to best serve our students, it is important to create an environment that is warm, welcoming and meets their needs. As Student Affairs Educators, we need to understand the needs of international students. In many ways, the international student is a 'nontraditional' student. This session will explore some of the unique issues faced by international students, issues that the average American student may not confront. This session will conclude with a discussion on solutions and best practices for creating a welcoming community for international students.
