Anita Foeman is a Professor of Communication Studies at West Chester University. She received her PhD from Temple University in 1982 in Communication with a concentration in Organizational Communication. Dr. Foeman’s scholarly work explores various aspects of a diverse society including multicultural organizations, families, and people. For the past decade her work has examined identity based on new ancestry DNA data, especially as it relates to supporting multicultural communities and the workplace. The work has received coverage in the New York Times, Washington Post, NPR, the BBC News Hour and local news coverage. She has extensive publications, presentations, and professional trainings to her credit. Dr. Foeman provides consulting for organizations related to organizational leadership, conflict, and diversity.

A human narrative: Exploring Ancestry DNA, intersectionality, and a new perspective on diversity

This work explores the West Chester University DNA Discussion project and contribution of this work to new discussion of identity and intersectionaity.

The presentation will cover:

  • Genesis and goals of the project
  • Narratives of participants over the years, with images
  • Research, implications, and comments from four lucky Summit attendees who took the DNA test for the conference.
