International Partnership Development

Principles for Establishing International Partnerships

WCU prioritizes international partnerships that meet the following principles:

• Alignment with WCU Mission and Program goal.
• Supporting the internationalization and global engagement of WCU in terms of teaching, research, and service.
• Articulation of specific global learning, academic, and/or research objectives to be achieved through the potential partnership.
• General academic parity and accreditation (if relevant and necessary) of the international institution.
• Articulation of the value added to the existing academic/ research curricula of WCU.
• Sustainability
• Fiscal resources available to engage in this international partnership.
• Strength of interest and recruitment methods to support levels of participation.
• Articulation of evaluation mechanisms to determine the success of the partnership.
• Intellectual and geographic diversity, including geographic diversity of the partnership in relationship to existing partnerships.
• Academic requirements (dual degree or degree completion program agreements only)
• Strength of pairing between existing WCU academic requirements and/or or undergraduate or master degrees and those of the international institution.

Faculty and Staff interested in proposing an MOA should first contact the Center for International Programs at international@wcupa.edu and include the following information: Faculty, Staff Name and Department/Unit, and Partner Institution.

Please describe the original connection to this institution and why they might be a strong partner for international teaching, research, service or other forms of collaboration? Also include in the description if the partnership would primarily benefit your research, teaching or service OR is the partnership more broad and collaborative benefits would be at institutional level.
