Understanding Homepages

Homepage Dashboard

When you login to ServiceNow, you will see the homepage as shown below. In this example, the user has one requested item (equipment purchase) and one open incident (trouble printing).  Clicking on the RITM number of INC number opens the record for status updates from IS&T staff.

The homepage is reachable anytime by clicking “Homepage” in the left navigator pane or by clicking on the WCU logo on the top left corner of the homepage.

 Service Catalog

This is where you can request services. This page is reachable anytime by clicking “Service Catalog” in the left navigation.

Incidents Homepage

This is where you go to look at incidents you have already submitted. They will appear in a list and you can click on the incident to get a status update or to make updates. This page is reachable anytime by clicking “Incidents” in the left navigator. To open an incident from the list that appears, click on the Number of the incident. Note: if the message “No records to display” appears and the page is blank, you have not submitted any incidents.

My Requests Homepage

This is where you go to look at any service requests you have already submitted. This page is reachable anytime by clicking “My Requests” in the left navigator. To open a request from the list that appears, click on the Number of the request.

Requested Items Homepage

This is where you go to look at any specific requested items you have already submitted. This page is reachable anytime by clicking “Requested Items” in the left navigator. In this example, this user has a requested item listed. To open a requested item from the list that appears, click on the Number of the requested item.

Options for Requests and Requested Items

In Requests and Requested Items, some options available near the top right are as follows:

1. Activity Stream – click the activity icon to expand the stream or click the arrows to collapse the stream.

2. More options – additional options are Toggle Template Bar and Add Tag.

3. Follow - Keep this set to "Following", because choosing Unfollow will stop notifications.
