D2L Daylight is Coming!

In May 2018, the D2L Learning Management System will transition to a new look and feel called, D2L Daylight. Most of the D2L tools you currently use will remain and continue to work the way they do now. The changes include a mobile friendly interface and a cleaner layout with course images. Faculty and staff interested in trying the D2L Daylight interface can gain sneak peek access by attending a training event.

Please visit wcupa.edu/daylight for more information and to register for upcoming training opportunities. Custom training for departments or programs can be requested by emailing d2l@wcupa.edu or distanceed@wcupa.edu

Important Reminders

D2L Services recommends the use of Firefox or Chrome when working in D2L. You may experience issues when utilizing other browsers.
Students should avoid using mobile devices (iPad, iPhone, Android devices, etc.) when submitting assignments or taking quizzes in D2L.

D2L Services has compiled a Documentation Library that contains guides and video tutorials to assist faculty and students with commonly used tools in D2L.

For assistance, please come to the D2L Services office located in Anderson Hall, Room 3 Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm where staff will be available to provide expert support for D2L related issues in person or email d2l@wcupa.edu.

Helpful Tools

Did you know that there are additional tools integrated into West Chester's instance of D2L? These tools work in conjunction with D2L to assist with plagiarism detection, communication, and audio visual needs.

  • Camtasia: Camtasia is a powerful video creation and editing tool that allows you to capture anything on your screen, as well as import other video, music, photos and more to customize your video. The Camtasia Add-In for Powerpoint enables a quick and easy method to view the slideshow presentation and record voice-over. This software can be installed on faculty's WCU issued computers. For more information, please email FAST@wcupa.edu

  • Collaborate - Online rooms : BB Collaborate is a useful tool that allows faculty to schedule virtual "real-time" classrooms. Online rooms can be utilized in the following scenarios: when it is not possible to meet in an onsite classroom setting, to allow student groups to meet virtually, and to hold virtual office hours or one-on-one meetings.
  • My Media (Kaltura) : My Media is a secure audio/video streaming service (Kaltura) that is used to upload and manage media files for use in D2L.
  • Respondus : Respondus 4.o is a Windows-based software authoring tool that allows faculty to create exams in MS Word format and publish directly into a D2L course. An added benefit is that it allows faculty to retrieve an existing exam from a D2L course and print it. The Respondus Test Bank Network provides access to 7,000 publisher test banks to create exams and learning activites. This software is available for DOWNLOAD to active WCU faculty.
  • Turnitin / Grademark : Turnitin checks student's dropbox submissions for potential plagiarism. The Originality Reports that are generated provide a summary of matching or highly similar text found in a submitted paper. Turnitin will search the web and all documents that have been submitted through the tool to check for originality.
