  2. Do not fill out or sign the form (this is done in-person at the Office of Human Resources)
  3. Bring the form and your Social Security Card to the Office of Human Resources on your first day of hire

Frequently Asked Questions about the I-9 Form

What if I cannot make it to the Office of Human Resources on or before my hire date?

Unfortunately, we are unable to make exceptions as to when this form is completed and when proof of identity and employability are received. The form must be completed on or before your hire date and proof of identity and employability must be provided within three days of your hire. If you are unable to come to the Office of Human Resources on the West Chester, PA campus, please contact Jen Bacon to make arrangements.

Is there a list of acceptable documents available so that I can see what to bring as proof of my identity and employability?

Yes. Although you do not have to use your social security card as proof of identity and employment for I-9 purposes, a social security card must be presented at the time your I-9 documents are presented. View a list of acceptable identity and employability documents .

What do I do if I have misplaced my social security card?

If you have misplaced your social security card, you can visit any Social Security office and submit a request for a replacement. Upon doing so, the Social Security office will provide you with a receipt indicating that you have applied for a new social secruity card, which you should then bring to the Office of Human Resources. This application is only good for 90 days, so upon receipt of your permanent social security card, you will need to bring it to the Office of Human Resources. Locate a Social Security office near you.

Why is a social security card required?

PASSHE Payroll Policies require that all employees provide a Social Security card upon hire. View additional information on requiring your Social Security card.
