In order to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, you must complete and sign pages 7 and 8 of the I-9 Form (in person at the Office of Human Resources) on or before your hire date. In addition, you must provide proof of identity and employability within three days of your hire.
The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Payroll Policies require that all employees provide a Social Security card upon hire. Therefore, when you provide proof of identity and employability at the Office of Human Resources, you must also provide your Social Security card at that time.
Unfortunately, we are unable to make exceptions as to when this form is completed and when proof of identity and employability are received. The form must be completed on or before your hire date and proof of identity and employability must be provided within three days of your hire. If you have misplaced your social security card, you can visit any Social Security office and submit a request for a replacement. Upon doing so, the Social Security office will provide you with a receipt indicating that you have applied for a new social secruity card, which you should then bring to the Office of Human Resources. This application is only good for 90 days, so upon receipt of your permanent social security card, you will need to bring it to the Office of Human Resources.
