Position Summary: Cheyney University, one of the 14 members of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology at the Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall semester 2019.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory and upper-level courses in biology with particular emphasis on General Biology I & II and Human Anatomy and Physiology. Other specialty areas are open, with a preference for those involved with training students for entry into health-related professions. The position also involves advising students in the various biological tracks and helping to revise and expand curricula for biology majors. Finally the candidate will seek to forge working relationships with healthcare related groups and institutions that have formed partnerships with Cheyney.


Requirements: The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in Biology or closely related science. Candidates will be evaluated in terms of demonstrated knowledge and skills; excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); and the ability to evaluate and advise students. Teaching experience is preferred. Candidates are expected to have strong research skills in biomedical sciences and have the potential to develop an externally-funded research program involving undergraduates. A strong record of scholarship and/or grantsmanship is a plus. Dedication to current, cutting edge classroom pedagogy is highly desired.
