17-22 Patrol Officer 1 (2 Positions Available)
Position Summary: Cheyney University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for two full-time Patrol Officer 1 positions. These positions provide police services and protection to Cheyney University students, employees, property, grounds, facilities, clientele, and the general public in a fair and impartial manner. This is basic police services work that includes that provision of routine and customary police services. The patrol officer works under the direction of the Director of Public Safety or his/her designee. Duties include: investigates criminal incidents and missing persons cases; acts as custodian of personal property and evidence being held for court presentation and maintains proper records of property, evidence, and automobiles held or impounded; patrols campus property and buildings by foot, vehicle, and/or bike; responds to calls for assistance, fire, burglary alarms, and emergencies on campus; completes and files reports; assists other local law enforcement at the direction of the senior officer; provides security and law enforcement services at University events; provides transportation to students and other visitors to campus; files charges for violations of Commonwealth laws and/or enforces vehicle code violations; directs traffic, enforces parking regulations, makes arrests, serves warrants, transports prisoners, takes fingerprints, transports funds for University deposits, testifies in court, attends arraignments and hearings; performs building checks for safety hazards, mechanical problems, and failures and other deficiencies; and performs other related police duties as assigned.
