17-16  Strength and Conditioning Coach

Position Summary: Cheyney University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for a Strength and Conditioning Coach position. This position will work with the Head Coaches and oversee all aspects of strength and conditioning for all athletes for sports performance, including but not limited, organization, maintenance, supervision, administration, coordination of all training services through all strength and conditioning training programs for the Cheyney University intercollegiate student athletes. In addition to all aspects of the strength and conditioning programming, the Strength & Conditioning Coach will work with the compliance officer to maintain NCAA program compliance.


• Oversee the strength and conditioning programs of all Cheyney University student athletes.
• Ensure appropriate care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries in coordination with the Athletic Training staff.
• In conjunction with athletic training staff, coordinate program design and implementation of sport specific strength and conditioning programs, prevention and rehabilitation programs for all varsity sports to achieve optimal athletic performance and health
• Supervise work-study students assigned to the weight training and workout areas on campus
• Maintain program records and related documents
• Develop and maintain equipment and inventory
• Develop and maintain the budget
• Administer appropriate coverage for workout sessions
• Act as liaison between head coaches and student athletes
• Attend department meetings and execute follow-up as necessary
• Support the university's Zero Tolerance policy and educational programs for student athlete welfare
• Solicit and maintain appropriate documentation on student athletes and coaches affirming compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.
• Assist the Director of Athletics with: implementing athletic programs & policies within the guidelines of the University, NCAA and PSAC by evaluating the athletic program to insure its compliance with division, university, conference and NCAA policy.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Athletic
• Handle sensitive issues and information with confidentiality and discretion.


• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strength and conditioning certification through a nationally recognized strength and conditioning program as per NCAA bylaw 11.1.7.
• CPR/AED and first aid certification
• 2-5 years of experience in relevant setting
• Understanding of NCAA and PSAC rules and regulations.


• Master’s Degree is preferred.
