Position Summary: Cheyney University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for a Bilingual (Spanish) Admissions Counselor responsible for recruiting and counseling prospective students and performing multiple program support activities. This position will assist the Director of Admissions in the development, implementation, and coordination of various admissions activities associated with office operations and with new student admission.
• Recruit prospective eligible students for university admissions, according to master recruitment and enrollment plan, goals and objectives. Recruits include academically talented students, minority students and other specific population in goals and objectives. Recruiting includes traveling to assigned areas to represent the University.
• Conduct interviews and counseling sessions with prospective students and their parents.
• Prepare presentations and represent the University at on and off-campus visitations and conferences, high school career days and college night and fairs.
• Maintain contact with the counselors in those high schools and other educational agencies in order to facilitate the identification, recruiting, admission and matriculation of students to the University.
• Develop and implement follow-up activities consistent with the General Recruitment Plan of the campus, which encourages students to complete the admissions process.
• Advise and counsel students, parents and guidance counselors regarding enrollment issues including, but not limited to admissions procedures, requirements, and criteria, academic programs, financial aid or scholarships and orientation.
• Answer all inquiries from students, parents and counselors concerning areas of assigned responsibility and respond to all telephone and written correspondence pertaining to the assigned area in a timely manner.
• Review all applications within designated groups as assigned by the Director; evaluate high school and college transcripts, standardize test scores reports and recommendation of counselors and teachers and make decisions based on University policy.
• Assist with the development, review and revision of all publications/forms used by the Office of Admissions.
• Ensure data integrity of recruits for campus student management computer system.
• Collaborates across the division of Students Affairs to facilitate smooth matriculation, orientation and registration of recruits.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree
• Two years of related experience
• Valid driver’s license
Successful candidates must be strong bilingual communicators. Extensive travel and driving are necessary.
