Dr. Harrison came to WCUPA in January 2014. She earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2003. Her dissertation research, done at the Alzheimer's Research Center, focused on the memory and cognitive features of dementia behaviors and was funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). Dr. Harrison's research interests include dementia care, caregiver burden, resilience, and depression in older adults. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications and national presentations. Dr. Harrison teaches gerontology across the curriclum (NSG 216, NSG 554, NSG 556). She is an active member of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) where she holds Fellows status. Dr. Harrison also holds national certification as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner and maintains a clinical practice in gerontology with Christiana Health Care.
