ABOUT ABIGAIL
As a transfer student, Abigail Church is in her second year majoring in Early Grades and earned a Certificate of Early Completion in completing her service through the Open Program offered by Open Connections. Open Connections actively serves local communities by creating spaces and opportunities that engage and build relationships with and among homeschooling students. Abigail went above and beyond in completing 118 hours as she was running art and science activities, supported the director’s conceptual development programming, and helped children work on projects. She showed initiative and decisiveness in developing new ideas for the program from an upcycling tissue box art activity to helping children make tin foil shadow statues. Abigail has been a great example of the kind of dedication, passion, and attitude that makes WCU teacher candidates so coveted by so many school districts.
