The Department of Educational Foundations & Policy Studies offers a post baccalaureate educator preparation program that prepares candidates to teach in secondary schools. This non-degree program is designed for candidates who possess a bachelor’s degree and now seek PA certification. Candidates will complete coursework in areas such as assessment, educational psychology and instructional technology as well as their academic subject area. Multiple opportunities to apply gained knowledge are embedded in a variety of field experiences, including student teaching. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates may be recommended to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for subject specific certification in grades 7 – 12.
You will need to meet with your academic and professional education advisors to complete an Approved Program of Study form and obtain signature before submitting the original to the Certification Office (Recitation 302) within completion of your first six credits.
During the month of your program completion, you may begin the process of applying for Pennsylvania certification. For information on how to apply for certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, please refer to the instructions found on the College of Education’s Certification page.
