Examity for Students

What if I don't have a webcam and microphone?

Most laptops and some desktop computers (like the iMac) have a webcam and microphone built-in. However, if your computer does not have these then you will need to buy an external webcam and microphone in order to use Examity. You can typically find one that connects through one of your computer's USB ports, and a decent one costs around $30. There are several types of stores that sell them, including:

When purchasing a webcam, make sure it also has a microphone built-in. Some external webcams do not have an integrated microphone, but you will need one to converse with the proctor.

Does Examity work on a smartphone or tablet?

Examity does not work with mobile devices (such as an iPhone or iPad) at this time.

How do I register with Examity, schedule a time to take my exam(s), and begin the proctoring process on exam day?

Please follow the instructions in the Examity Student Manual . Note that you must register with Examity and schedule your exam at least 48 hours before the exam window opens. However, we recommend that students do this as early as possible in order to reserve a time that is most convenient for them and to avoid any unforeseen issues.

This video, Examity Live Test Video - Student Version, is an example of what will happen when you first connect with Examity to take your exam.

What is the easiest way to get a picture of my Ram e Card or government-issued photo ID?

  2. Use a web-based service like Webcamio to take a picture of it using your desktop or laptop's webcam, then save the picture to your computer.

Who should I contact if I'm having trouble with setting up or using Examity?

Please contact Examity's support line at 855-EXAMITY or email them at

. Their support line is available 24/7. Please do not contact the Office of Distance Education; Examity is a third-party company and we do not have the ability to troubleshoot issues, make changes to their program, or schedule/reschedule exam appointments. Questions about the exam itself and its content should be directed to the course instructor.
