The Borough of West Chester has been named one of the top 50 college towns in the United States, according to the website CollegeRank.net. Coming in at #33, West Chester was chosen based on interviews with students, alumni, and travel and tourism professionals.
The site evaluated towns and small cities on such criteria as the amount of outdoor space, types of shops in the town, walkability, and "the general vibe." Their "take" on the borough: "West Chester is quite simply a super college town, says Nina Kelly, who not only graduated from West Chester University but also works for the local visitors' bureau."
Activities such as the restaurant festival, Turks Head Music and other festivals, the vintage market, and the Halloween and Christmas parades rated high with the reviewers.
CollegeRank.net also ranks such features as colleges' dining experiences, arboretums, and museums, stating, "Our mission is to rank everything college, and dissect every aspect of student life, because you never really know what will make a difference once you begin your college journey."
