This summer, West Chester University Honors College student Dan Hinderliter is starting a year-long membership on the student advisory board of the world's leading education company.
Hinderliter is one of only twelve students in North America selected by Pearson, which provides educational materials, technologies, assessments and related services to teachers and students of all ages.
Participation in the highly competitive Pearson Student Advisory Board provides students the chance to experience first-hand the inner workings of a global publishing business and to shape the learning materials for students across the country.
The West Chester University senior will directly communicate with key senior Pearson executives about college students’ concerns and needs and work with the company's editors and marketing managers to influence the direction of existing and future products.
During the year, Hinderliter will communicate with other student advisory board members and Pearson employees by way of weekly conference calls and a data sharing website.
Hinderliter, who is majoring in both education and Communication Studies, as ranked this past year as the top speaker in Pennsylvania's championship tournament. He also was among the top five speakers in persuasive speaking at the National Interstate Oratory contest, the most prestigious and longest running speech competition in the country.
This year's president of the University's Forensics Team and vice president of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honors society, Hinderliter is a Pennsylvania Board of Governors scholar and a member of "Who's Who."
