Dr. Anthony 'Tony' R. Wheeler

Biography

Anthony R. Wheeler serves as the Dean of the College of Business and Public Management at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Prior to that, he served as the Associate Dean in the College of Business at Bryant University, where he was responsible for graduate programs in business. Before Bryant University, he held the rank of full professor with tenure and the Spachman Professor of Human Resources Management in the College of Business Administration with a joint appointment in the Schmidt Labor Research Center at the University of Rhode Island. While at the University of Rhode Island, Wheeler directed URI’s full-time MBA program, which focused on Strategic Innovation. He held assistant professor positions in management at Bradley University and California State University, Sacramento. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park and earned both his masters and doctoral degrees at the University of Oklahoma.

Dean Wheeler has extensive HRM and change management consulting experiences for non- and for-profit organizations, including government agencies, small manufacturing companies, high tech companies, and Fortune 500 companies. His research focuses on employee turnover and retention, employee stress, burnout, and engagement, and leadership. According to Google Scholar, Dean Wheeler’s research has been cited over 2,500 times, leading to impact ratings of 25 (h-index) and 33 (i10- index). He has published in top management, organizational behavior, and human resource management peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Business Research, Work & Stress, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Occupational and Health Psychology, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Business Logistics. Dr. Wheeler served as the Associate Editor of Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology from 2012 – 2015, and since 2012 he has served as a co-editor of Research in Personnel and Human Resources Management. He currently serves on the editorial review boards for Journal of Organizational Behavior, Group and Organization Management, Journal of Business Ethics (Teaching Business Ethics), and Leadership and Organizational Development Journal.
