Major: Theatre (Musical Theatre concentration)
Hometown: Chester, PA
Expected Graduation: Winter 2017
Why did you decide to attend West Chester University?
I had originally heard about West Chester through a counselor at my high school. She told me nothing but great things about the University and it sparked my interests. I read up about their Music department, then I focused my research on the Theatre Department. I found information and videos about their recitals, shows, and the AIDS Benefit that they do every year and I was sold.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Theatre and Dance?
My favorite thing about the Department of Theatre and Dance are the mandatory recitals. We perform 3 times a semester on songs we have been working on with our private voice instructors. This is a great opportunity to not only show the skills we have been working to perfect, but gives us a chance to receive feedback from our instructors and peers. I had always had stage fright growing up but attending WC has helped me with that. They are constantly pushing us to exceed the performer we were before.
What didn't you know about the Department of Theatre and Dance before you came to WCU?
I didn't know that the theatre department was BA certified, it made coming here that much better for me. I grew confident that coming here would give me all the tools I need to be a great performer.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
After I graduate I would like to go into film work or maybe get casted in a TV series. Broadway is definitely a goal as well but I would like to try film first if I can. I am also invested in music, I have an EP on iTunes and am on the way to finishing another one. Hopefully, two years from now I can focus all of my energy into an album. I want to complete an entire body of work that exudes all the elements that makes me, me.
What would you like to tell students considering WCU or the Department of Theatre and Dance?
If you are looking for a school that will give you the tools you need and send you on your way WC isn't for you; but if you are looking for a school that pushes you past your limits and forces you to evolve, becoming better than the person you were the day before than WC is for you. There are endless amounts of opportunities here, waiting for a brave soul to step up and take them!
