Major: Studio Arts; Focus in Ceramics
Hometown: East Berlin, PA
Expected Graduation: Spring 2016
Why did you decide to attend West Chester University?
I loved the atmosphere and E.O. Bull. I got a personal tour with John Baker and he convinced me without even trying that this was the college where I belong.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Art + Design?
I love the professors and how they really want you to succeed, along with the community of students willing to critique and help at any moment.
What didn't you know about the Department of Art + Design before you came to WCU?
I didn't know the ceramics department had so many classes and opportunities to learn more than just how to make pieces of art. I have learned skills such a different clay recipes, mixing glazes and firing kilns to help me run my own studio in the future and I am very grateful to have had that opportunity.
What do you plan to do after graduation?
I plan to make moves towards the direction of getting my own studio. I may start in production pottery and proceed from there or I could be a studio tech and work my way up. I have some options right now it's just the point of me deciding which path to take.
What would you like to tell students considering WCU or the Department of Art + Design?
I would tell them to take classes that you enjoy and if you want to be an artist, pursue what you want. Also don't doubt your abilities, you can do whatever you set your mind to.
