- Medical services include routine care; HIV testing; tuberculosis (TB) testing; immunizations; contraceptive counseling and prescriptions; STI screening, treatment, and counseling; pregnancy testing; annual gynecological exams.
- The Student Health Center is staffed by physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners.
- All students are required to pay a health service fee at the beginning of each semester. Some medications and supplies are available at a nominal fee. You can request a prescription if you would like to get your medication at an outside pharmacy. In addition, a separate fee is charged for each office visit.
- The Student Health Center will provide free plastic sharps containers for the disposal of needles and syringes for any student taking medication by injection.
- The Student Health Center does not provide absence notes for any reason. Students are encouraged to speak directly to faculty concerning absences due to illness. For extended absences of three days or more, students should contact Student Assistance, phone: 610-436-3086 or emails StudentAssistance@wcupa.edu.
Insurance Programs
It is important to remember that the Student Health fee does not provide coverage for the cost of referrals to off-campus specialists, emergency transportation, local hospitals, or other healthcare facilities. Because of the unpredictable nature of such medical and surgical emergencies, all students are encouraged to be protected by a health insurance program.
Health insurance is not a general university requirement, and the university does not provide a school health plan.
Insurance requirements are mandated for intercollegiate athletic participation and some specific departments. Refer to the appropriate section in the University Catalog for further information on these requirements.

Student Health Forms
Health information is requested from all entering new and transfer students. Students receive an email with information to complete health forms using the Student Health web portal.
Student Health Services reserves the right to request an annual physical examination by the family physician for any student suffering from a chronic illness. Specific majors or athletic programs may also require a student physical exam. A physical exam is not a general university requirement.
A current negative tuberculosis (TB) test and/or chest X-ray showing no active tuberculosis is mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for all student teachers and all students participating in field experiences in the public schools. The TB test is given at Student Health Services for a nominal fee.
All immunizations are recommended for students. The Meningitis vaccine or waiver is required by Pennsylvania state law for students who reside in university housing.
