WCU Alternative Breaks are small group service trips organized and led by students, usually over spring break. They take place in various locations throughout the U.S and are geared towards making a difference in a community through meaningful volunteer work. They focused around a specific social problem in a community.

Each year, we seek out WCU faculty, staff, and graduate students who may be interested in serving as Trip Advisors.
Trip Advisors will:
Everyone selected to serve as a trip advisor will meet withKate Colyer
, Assistant Director of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs, prior to fully committing, in order to discuss the trip in greater detail. After officially accepting this role, all trip advisors will participate in a group trip advisor training and meet semi-regularly with their student trip leader and co-trip advisor to further prepare for the trip. Trip advisors will also be invited to participate in pre-trip meetings with the group of students going on their trip (attendance to each of these meetings is not mandatory).
