WCU PROFESSIONAL NETWORK (PRONET)
The Professional Network module in Ram Career Network (RCN) allows current students and alumni to connect with WCU Alumni ProNet Volunteers in fields of interest for helpful career and professional development advice. Please read the overview and expectations to better understand the Professional Network (ProNet). Once you have read these items you must complete the form indicating you understand and agree to the guidelines. Within two business days after your request is received you will be emailed follow up information on how to access ProNet through RCN.
* This is a new initiative in 2016-17 and as such the database is small, but we anticipate strong growth over the first few years
EXPECTATIONS FOR USERS
Be respectful of volunteers.
Users of ProNet should not overuse the resource or abuse their access to Alumni Volunteers. Be purposeful in selecting volunteers to connect with and reach out to those that are genuinely interesting to you and your interests. The process can take time so be patient and do not excessively contact volunteers.
Set clear and realistic goals.
Understand that connecting with Alumni Volunteers through ProNet does not mean you will be offered a job or internship. As you begin making connections, discuss the purpose of your networking relationship in order to form short term goals while also creating the building blocks necessary to maintain the connection over time.
Whether communicating via e-mail or phone be responsive and return calls and e-mail in a timely manner (within two business days). Respect the time and energy that Alumni are dedicating by being a volunteer.
If conversations or meetings with Alumni ProNet Volunteers must be cancelled it is expected you will communicate that to them in a timely fashion and offer an apology for any inconvenience. Cancellations should not be habitual.
Be open to constructive feedback from alumni and self-reflect on the information they provide. Respond respectfully and sincerely when having follow-up conversation about feedback.
Do Not Solicit.
This is a place for you to connect with others for your own personal and professional development. You may not approach these individuals for any form of solicitation, fundraising, or business investment proposals.
By completing the fields below you are stating that you understand and agree to the guidelines and expectations of ProNet student and alumni users as they are described above. If an Alumni Volunteer reports to us or we learn of any activities or behaviors that violate this agreement, we will remove your access to the database. To regain access it will require an in-person appointment with Assistant Director of the Career Development center, Kate Shellaway.
