Information in the external pages that the TCDC links to comes from a variety of sources. The TCDC provides these links only as a convenience, which may help students in exploring career and education options. When conducting a job search, it is the responsibility of the individual to research the integrity of the organizations to which one is applying. Individuals are advised to use caution and common sense when applying for any position with an organization and when supplying personal information through the Internet. West Chester University and the TCDC do not author, edit, or monitor these outside pages and therefore do not assume responsibility for their content or veracity.
The West Chester University Twardowski Career Development Center (TCDC) does not endorse any employer and urges students to use good judgment in all of their interactions with employers.
The TCDC is not responsible for safety, wages, working conditions or other aspects of off-campus employment. Due to the volume of jobs received by this office, we are unable to research the integrity of each organization or person that lists a job with us. The TCDC suggests that students request business references for unknown organizations before interviewing with them off campus or exploring job opportunities.
Students should never give a potential employer their personal information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, or bank account numbers, and never spend any of their own money on an employment "opportunity" unless very certain that it is for a legitimate reason (such as training costs). The FBI Cyber Division produced a useful public service announcement in May 2014 titled "Cyber-related Scams Targeting Universities, Employees, and Students."
The TCDC advises students to interview in public places or places of business only. Students and alumni should contact the TCDC if they have any concerns about the use of their information.
Students and alumni can view, correct or change their information by logging into their Ram Career Network account on the West Chester University Career Services web site.
