Pre-Major Academic Advising (PMAAC)

The Pre-Major Academic Advising Center provides support to 1800 undergraduate students prior to admission to an academic major, 200 Non-degree students and students interested in switching their major. Faculty advisors are supported by office in preparing for the various advising activities, group advising or individual appointments.

Position Responsibilities:
General Office
Involves the following:
• Confidential or sensitive data/information
• Handling financial, student or personnel data/records
This position will provide general assistance with:
General office duties such as computer knowledge and skills, reception/answering telephone, making appointments, returning calls, typing, filing, copying, faxing, and scanning; all with attention to detail. Maintain high degree of confidentiality of materials and information of the department. Sending documents via interoffice and U.S. postal service. Assist with on-going and special projects, as needed. Customer service and strong communication skills with students, advisors and faculty. Ability to be organized to complete goals and task assigned.
Specific duties as they relate to this department:
Make students’ appointments for the faculty on their individual calendars (using Outlook), print next day calendar and pull students' folders for appointments, distribute to faculty, file students' folders, copy information and distribute to faculty as requested, deliver information/material to other offices on campus, assist clerical, director, faculty as directed (& appropriate), answer phone and write down messages, retrieve and distribute mail from Post Office for PMAA, and generate lists of information using word or excel, as needed.
Learning Outcomes:
Student will learn about functioning in a dynamic office environment. This position requires the student to handle multiple competing priorities and juggle demanding customer service at the same time.
