Comprehensive Project Management Workshop*

Duration: Meets online 3 hours per session for 8 weeks

Accreditations: 35 PDUs – 35 hours

Course Description: Our instructor-led distance learning workshop covers the full complement of sub-plans, methods and procedures that span the typical project life-cycle from initiation to project close. It is designed to equip attendees with the complete set of skills and tools to consistently be an effective project manager. Participants examine the role of the project manager and their involvement in managing the project’s life-cycle through defining tasks, time management, cost estimation, scheduling, and resource allocation. Each of the ten PMI Knowledge Areas will be covered in the modules presented to workshop participants.

Audience: Novice and experienced project managers aspiring to become a professional and/or seek professional credential in Project Management. Optimum class size: 10-25.

Course Outline: Workshop is designed as a blended learning experience with 24 hours of synchronous and 11 hours of asynchronous learning where participants apply the various tools and techniques discussed. Individual and group exercises are part of the learning experience. Modules:

  • Life cycle phases

  • Project management vocabulary

  • Stakeholder management grid

  • Communication plan

  • Requirements management

  • Project milestones

  • WBS, WBS dictionary, RAM and OBS

  • Precedence diagramming

  • Project network development and practice

  • Critical path and “crashing”

  • Schedule development and Gantt charts

  • Risk analysis and management

  • Quality management tools and planning

  • PM metrics, tools and techniques

  • Project delivery and control

  • Project close best practices

  • Exercises on each knowledge area

  • Probability analysis

Course Outcome: 

After successful completion of workshop, participants will be well prepared to take the Project Management Professional, PMP® examination. Course meets the Project Management Institute, PMI® qualifications and a West Chester University certificate awarded.
