The Office of LGBTQA Services is an administrative unit with the University's Division of Student Affairs. The unit was created in 1994 to assist students with issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity. University and community members who are "out", questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity, and allies can find a "safe space" with LGBTQA Services.
LGBTQA Services provides information, resources, and support for programming to members of the university and the community. The Director, Assistant Director, Administrative Assistant, Graduate Assistant, and team of Peer Educators work together to create a warm and welcoming climate at West Chester University.
LGBTQA Services strives to create and support inclusive environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual, agender, aromantic, intersex, queer, and questioning students, staff, and faculty. This includes providing access to gender-neutral housing, name change policies for e-mail and D2L, campus-wide educational programs, and a LGBTQA Advocacy Committee composed of faculty, staff, and students.
This committee is comprised of faculty, staff, students, and administrators. The committee meets on a regular basis during the academic year to discuss campus climate issues. We work closely with campus leaders to create a warmer campus climate for LGBTQA people.
If you have an issue of concern that you would like to bring to the attention of the Advocacy Committee, pleasesend us an e-mail.
