If you are sending documentation to the Financial Aid office (Signature page, Tax Transcripts, W2s, etc.) please make sure the student’s WCU ID number is provided on each page of the documentation.
Students are selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education when they file their FAFSA. It is a process that requires financial aid administrators to confirm the information reported on the FAFSA by reviewing required documents. If a student is selected for verification, an email communication will be sent to the student’s WCU email address and/or the student’s email address indicated on the FAFSA form.

It is in a student’s best interest to complete verification as soon as possible since it may impact the amount of financial aid that is awarded. With that said, we ask that all verification documentation be submitted within 30 days of the initial notification.
If the Financial Aid Office has to make corrections to your FAFSA during verification, your financial aid may be adjusted. Also, the student’s federal financial aid (Pell, Direct Loans, etc.) will not disburse until after verification is completed.
If you did not use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA form you will be asked to submit Tax Return Transcripts. Tax Return Transcripts can be requested online at www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-transcript.
Verification documentation can be mailed to 25 University Ave. West Chester PA 19383, emailed as a pdf to firstname.lastname@example.org, or faxed to 610-436-2574.
If you do not complete your verification, your federal financial aid will be cancelled.
