Exit Counseling - Federal Student Loans

If you received a Teach Grant and/or a Federal Student Loan as part of your financial aid package you, when you leave or cease to be enrolled in less than 6 credits you are required to complete an Exit Interview.

Each federal loan program has an Exit Interview process. You must complete the interview for each type of loan you received. You can review you total borrowing history by logging into The National student Loan Database.

Federal Direct/Stafford Student Loans

  • The Department of Education is the Lender.
  • To fulfill your Loan Exit Counseling requirement visit
  • The U.S. Department of Education will assign your loan to a servicer.

Federal Nursing or Perkins Student Loans


  • TEACH Grant Exit Counseling session provides information about the terms and conditions of a TEACH Grant service agreement, as well as the rights and responsibilities that apply if your TEACH Grant is converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan.

You must repay a student loan even if your financial circumstances become difficult.

Your student loans cannot be canceled because you didn't get the education or job you expected, or because you didn't complete your education.
