Campus Recreation

The Department of Campus Recreation, which is housed within the Division of Student Affairs, contributes to the general mission statement of West Chester University. Our guiding principle is to afford co-curricular activities that coincide with the overall development and growth of the University community, based on the seven dimensions of wellness. Our campus recreation program serves the University community through an array of quality diverse opportunities, which foster personal, recreational, physical, ethical, social, and leadership development. The program addresses a myriad of recreational forms such as competitive, instructional, informal, and social or a combination thereof. Through such programming, we inspire and promote a positive, pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, and lifelong learning.

Position Responsibilities:

Involves the following:
• Possessing keys/codes or other means of entry to spaces within university offices or student housing
This position will provide general assistance with:
The Campus Recreation team is looking for students to help us staff our new Outdoor Resource Center (ORC) located in the Ehinger Gym. We are looking for individuals with strong customer service and organizational skills to help us distribute and maintain rental equipment including, backpacks, stoves, tents, and other outdoor gear. No prior experience with outdoor activities or gear is necessary.
Specific duties as they relate to this department:
Maintain accurate record of equipment rental log including reservations, returns and gear in use Clean and inspect rental gear Maintain clean and organized appearance at the ORC Maintain organization of returned gear Maintain information board at ORC and assist with the hanging of event flyers around campus Answer phones and provide information on available rental equipment and upcoming outdoor events

Strong interpersonal skills Ability to handle multiple tasks Strong organizational skills Experience working with computers Desire to help people have the best possible outdoor experience

AthleticAssisting with facility/equipment set-up and breakdown, assisting with event registration and scorekeeping, officiating intramural sports competitions and conflict management processes.
Involves the following:
• Possessing keys/codes or other means of entry to spaces within university offices or student housing
• Being responsible for/or providing services to anyone under the age of 18
This position will provide general assistance with:

Campus Recreation for Intramural Sports – Student Recreation Center Office on 1st Floor outside Studio C reporting to Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, Dan Comas
