Provide general education English composition courses (two) for each student admitted to WCU, as well as provide Literature Humanities requirement courses. We also are responsible for two degree programs, the English BA and the English BSEd degrees, and teach courses in writing, literature, film, and journalism.

Position Responsibilities:
Customer RelationsData InputGeneral Office
Involves the following:
This position will provide general assistance with:
Clerical responsibilities as needed to support the English dept. offices (two), primarily in Main 540. Projects as determined by supervisor.
Specific duties as they relate to this department:
Clerical responsibilities: mail sorting and delivery, copying of documents for faculty: sorting, stapling, delivery; answering of phone in staff's absence; scanning and faxing documents as needed; errands around campus -- Human Resources, posting class cancellations around campus, from Swope to Tyson Hall. Delivering paperwork to Dean's office, Registrar's office, Office of Social Equity, Digital Film office.
Learning Outcomes:
Will learn how to operate office equipment: large copier, scanner, fax machine, which will make them more marketable. Will also learn phone etiquette: how to answer a phone for an organization, how to take appropriate messages, etc., a skill that will be used in future employment. Any additional skills a candidate has makes them stand out from others.
