  • The best way to have your questions answered is

by sending an email that includes

    • Your Name and Contact Information

    • Short description of the issue. We will do our best to help resolve you problems or answer your questions

You know my name, but not who I am or what I do.  I am a Veteran, Regular Army Engineer, 2002-2008, I am currently pursuing a Masters of Social Work.  I am married and have a daughter.   I am using the Post 911 GI Bill to pay for my education; I know how good the GI Bill can be, I also know that it is an imperfect system and Veterans, Active Guard/Reserve, and Dependents face a very different set of challenges on campus. Your service demands that our institution respond to help; That is what I try to do.  My position is here to respond to what you need to be successful at WCU and to make the crucial next the step: FIND A JOB.  I do not process or certify VA paperwork {Dana Parker is the VA Certifying Official}, but I do help get answers to your GI Bill concerns, questions and complaints.  I coordinate and advocate for academic programs on campus, resume and job skill workshops. I am working to find employment and networking opportunities for WCU Student Veterans. You do not have to be in the Veterans Group to use the Center.  I am here if you want to come by to talk. I am at the Center every day, but will be in and out for meetings and other responsibilities. Feel free to drop by anytime to talk, but if you need to see me; call or email, and I will be here.

Greetings everyone, I'm Erik, one of the graduate assistants at West Chester's Veteran Center. I, like Lawrence, am an Army Veteran, but I am a former hard charging 11Bravo, (yes that is your prompt to hooah) I also am currently pursuing a Masters of Social Work. What I plan on doing with my MSW is Substance Abuse Disorder Therapy, as well counseling other Veterans. I have worked as a certifying official at my alma mater, UMass Amherst, so I am very versed with the GI-Bill chapters and their stipulations. In the little off time I have, I enjoy hockey, creative endeavors, reading, and playing video games. I usually am at the center After hours on Monday and Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm, as well as all day Friday. My ears are always open for your thoughts, gripes opinions, and suggestions. Shoot me an email at wcuvetcenterstaff@gmail.com, or if you use Gmail, you can also chat with me during the aforementioned times.

Ray Facundo : Veterans Center Graduate Assistant

I am a candidate of the Graduate Social Work Program at WCU, following my passion for helping others – veterans, specifically.  I served three years active duty as a Field Artillery Surveyor, and three more in the New Jersey National Guard.  I have deployed to Iraq twice, Convoy Ops in 05-06, Detainee Ops in 08-09, and I have personally dealt with PTSD and have learned much about it through my own experiences and my education.  I also know the difficulties in accessing and navigating VA benefits.  My goal is to eventually go to work for Veteran Affairs and bring sincerity, dignity and respect to my practice.  I am currently interning at the Veterans Center and can be contacted for any Veteran related questions, and provide support for any school-related or personal matter you bring my way.  The door is open!”
